Peanuts Seeds May Use Instead Of Palm Oil To Slumps High Edible Oil Import Bill

CHINA:Dr. Babar Ijaz, During an interview with China Economic Net, the Person In Charge of Overseas Projects at Shandong Rainbow Agricultural Technology Co. Ltd., made the observation while demonstrating a plump peanuts . “Our seeds are rich in nutrient elements.”

Rows of lush peanut seedlings are bathing in the shining sunshine with pride on a farm in Weifang, Shandong Province, China, as they wait for the autumn to bring their fruit clusters.

The Ministry of Agriculture in China recently officially included Rainbow’s high-oleic-acid peanut cultivation base project in the framework for agricultural cooperation between China and Pakistan.

Our seed registration with the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC), as you can see, has begun. Five high-oleic peanut varieties for the Runhua series’ oil extraction have been trial-planted in Pakistan, and the results are anticipated to be fruitful,” Fan Changcheng, Rainbow’s Deputy General Manager, stated.

He stated, “Next, our aim is to gradually increase the area to 1,500 hectares in the coming years.”

According to data from the US Department of Agriculture, Pakistan will plant peanuts seeds on approximately 150,000 hectares and produce 140,000 metric tons of the crop in 2022 and 2023.

Peanut cultivation has a long history in my nation. Peanuts prefer soil that is loose and breathable, sandy loam, and a warm environment with ample sunlight. Ijaz stated that the Potohar region of Punjab is the best place to grow peanuts, adding that peanut seeds contain 40 to 50 percent oil and that high-oleic peanut oil is full of unsaturated fatty acids.

We always focused on the influence that the local environment can have on the overall quality of the seeds during our trial. The varieties we chose have the most oleic acid, up to 80%, which means they are very nutritious.

Muhammad Jahanzaib, Scientific Officer of the Oil Seed Research Programme in NARC Pakistan, stated, “Self-sufficient in peanut production means that we can reduce our import bill for edible oil as Palm oil.”
