KARACHI: Public complaints about insurance claims are being addressed and the matter of getting people’s insurance claims due on various companies will be resolved soon, announced regional ombudsman directors from across the country.
While giving a briefing to the federal insurance ombudsman through video link. Federal Insurance Ombudsman Dr Khawar Jameel presided over a meeting in Karachi on Saturday, during which the problems faced by people regarding insurance were reviewed.
According to a press release, Jameel got details of the applications filed about insurance claims and their settlements. He directed all regional directors to intensify an insurance awareness campaign in their respective cities. He also sought details of insurance companies that were delaying the payment of legitimate claims of the public.
Earlier also Federal Insurance Ombudsman Dr Khawar Jameel has said that on the directions of President Arif Alvi, his organisation is determined to resolve the problems faced by farmers regarding insurance claims of crops and livestock, damaged by recent floods.
He said that during the recent meetings held in the President’s House, all stakeholders, banks, insurance companies and relevant ministries had been asked to collect the data of arable land and affected farmers on an urgent basis.
He said the institution of the insurance ombudsman had launched an awareness campaign for the general public, especially farmers. “
We have to provide better infrastructure to the farmers struggling with natural calamities through long-term investments,” he said.

Over the past year, total premiums of the industry increased by 17%, showcasing significant growth.
