ISLAMABAD:Donald Blome, the US Ambassador to Pakistan , wished for a settlement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that would guarantee Washington’s willingness to assist the nation in resuming a $6.5 billion bailout program that had fallen through.
Additionally, US Ambassador to Pakistan Blome stated that the IMF bailout package for Islamabad will be finalized in a few days.
“The US is prepared to help out Pakistan to help on the issue,” Blome said, while addressing writers at an occasion on Tuesday.

However, the envoy stated Washington’s willingness to assist Islamabad with the ongoing terrorism problem also.
According to Blome, who has recently been meeting with groups from a variety of backgrounds in Pakistan’s major cities, diplomatic relations between the two countries have made significant progress.
Since the end of last year, Islamabad and the IMF have been talking about a stalled bailout package. The country wants a $1.1 billion tranche to fix its worsening balance of payments crisis and make it easier for friendly, wealthy capitals to help it get through the ongoing its financial complexities.

Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are in talks to come up with a deal that will help the cash-strapped country get out of the current economic turmoil.
It is interesting to note that Pakistan’s Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar, stated last week that the country would reach a staff-level agreement (SLA) with the IMF within the next few days because the government remained committed to completing the loan program that was signed in 2019.
Dar reportedly sought “lenient treatment” from the Fund, which has been persistent with its demands, earlier this week after failing to persuade the lender.
